Very little is known about this tower, but it was occupied at the time of the 1841 Census by two men receiving full pay from either the Army or the Navy, and may have had coastguard connections. By 1851 it was occupied by a Pensioner, employed as a tower keeper.

The tower was described as safe from the sea in 1873, although there are rumours that it was demolished in 1924, to clear land for building. Pebble Road was built on or near the site of the tower.
