Not much is known about this tower: it was demolished in 1858, but a mistake in the numbering of the towers between the publication of the 1854 and 1867 editons of the 1-inch Ordnance Survey map meant Tower 48 was marked on the map long after it had gone. The tower stood just to the south of where Pages Avenue is now situated.
